Shallotte is part of our Brunswick County service area, and dog owners here get the same programs as everyone else. Choose private obedience lessons if you want to do the handling yourself, or a sleep-over board and train if you want one drop-off and one pickup. See them all on our plans and pricing page.
Why professional training is essential for Shallotte dog owners
Behavior modification
Address jumping, pulling, barking, anxiety, and reactivity at the root, not just the symptom.
Safety & control
A dog that listens the first time is a safer dog around traffic, livestock, wildlife, and people.
Stronger bond
Clear communication builds trust, so your dog looks to you for direction instead of guessing.
Skills that transfer
We hand the training over to you at pickup, so the obedience keeps working at home.
Family harmony
A calm, well-mannered dog means a calmer home for kids, guests, and other pets alike.
Our dog training programs for Shallotte dogs
Board and train with a trainer in their own home, private lessons, and programs built for puppies and reactive dogs. Here is how they break down.
Obedience lessons
Private, one-on-one lessons with a professional trainer. You handle your own dog the whole way, so the training goes home with you.
- Come, sit, place, heel, down, break and off
- Loose-leash walking and manners
- In-home lessons that come to you
Board & train
Your dog stays with one of our trainers in their home, not a kennel, with daily picture and video updates, then a hand-over session with you.
- One-week and two-week sleep-over programs
- Off-leash work in the two-week program
- A two-hour hand-over session at the end
Puppies and problem behavior
A head start for young puppies, and focused help for the problems a general obedience program does not solve on its own.
- Happy Puppy programs from 8 weeks
- Reactivity and aggression lessons
- Therapy dog preparation

Built for how Shallotte dogs actually live
Shallotte is a busy stop for errands at this end of the county. Main Street and the shops around it see plenty of traffic, the Shallotte River runs through town, and Mulberry Street Park is close by. Ocean Isle Beach is a short drive away.
That mix asks a lot of a dog. A puppy has to learn to walk past people on a sidewalk, ride along for errands, and then hold it together on a beach trip. The earlier that starts, the easier it goes, which is why our Happy Puppy programs begin at 8 weeks.
If the drive is a consideration, look at the one drop-off and one pickup of a board and train: your dog stays in a trainer's home for one or two weeks, you get daily pictures or videos, and the program ends with a two-hour session that teaches you the commands.
Where your dog will shine
- Mulberry Street Park
- Main Street in Shallotte
- Along the Shallotte River
- Ocean Isle Beach, a short drive away
- Your own yard

What our clients say
“my little cavapoo, Jake, took to the lessons right away. He would run off, jump up on people, and generally at 9 months old was out of my control.”
“Ocean (our puppy's name) spent a week with Joyell and learned more than I could even imagine.”
“Since the training we have already had her out to dinner, hosted friends over and played frisbee in our yard off leash.”
Frequently asked questions
Do you work with dogs in Shallotte?
Yes. Shallotte is on our service list along with the rest of Brunswick County. Call us for a free phone consultation and we will work out which program fits your dog.
Which puppy program is right for me?
Puppies from 8 to 23 weeks fit our Happy Puppy programs: coaching, lessons or a short board and train. From five months, a puppy can move into private obedience lessons, and from six months into the regular board and train.
What happens at the end of a board and train?
A two-hour hand-over session. We show you everything your dog learned, then teach you the commands so it keeps working at home. Read more on our board and train page.
Can my dog learn off leash in lessons?
Off-leash reliability comes through our two week board and train. Lessons are built around come, sit, place, heel, down, break and off, with you handling your own dog.
Is there a way to spread out the payments?
Payment plans are available. Call us today to learn more about payment options.
