Where Evie started

Evie's owners had talked for months about finding a training program for her. They had also tried reaching other trainers and were frustrated that nobody got back to them.

The need was real. Evie was physically too strong for her owner to walk. In her owner's words, "my husband would have to take the day off work to take her to the vet." She also jumped on guests whenever someone came over.

The training journey

When the family reached out to Off Leash K9 Training Myrtle Beach, we got in touch right away to learn their goals for Evie and to make sure our program was a good fit for what they wanted.

Evie came to us for the one week board and train. Her family got pictures, videos and messages every day about what she was working on and how she was doing.

When the week was over, Joyell showed her owner everything Evie had learned, then taught her how to work with Evie herself. Her owner put it this way: "she didn't just train my pup, she trained me too!"

What actually changed

  • Walks. The dog who was too strong to walk now goes on daily neighborhood strolls, right beside her owner.
  • Guests. She no longer jumps on people when they come over.
  • The front door. Her owner can leave the door open while bringing in groceries.
  • A bonus. The family's senior dog now sits before going into the backyard, just because he sees Evie doing it every time.

★★★★★

“I recently did the one week board and train for my dog Evie. I can’t say enough good things about this program. […] I was updated daily with pictures, videos, and messages about what she was working on and how she was doing. I am beyond impressed with the results. When her training was over, Joyell showed me all that Evie had learned and then taught me how to work with her too. […] Before the training I couldn’t walk her on a leash, my husband would have to take the day off work to take her to the vet because she was physically too strong for me to walk.. Now, we do daily neighborhood strolls and she walks right beside me. She no longer jumps on guests when they come over and I can even leave my door open while bringing in groceries.”

What it changed for her family

Her owner says it is amazing to be able to communicate with Evie in a way she did not think was possible for her. A walk used to be something she could not do alone. Now it is part of every day.

She wrote her review when Evie had been home only five days, and she already wished they had done it sooner.

Why Evie's story matters to us

A lot of owners along the Grand Strand are where Evie's family was: a dog they love and cannot physically manage. The training matters, but so does the handoff. A dog who behaves for the trainer and not for the owner has not really been trained, which is why we spend time teaching the owner too.

Before and after

Evie was too strong for her owner to walk, and she jumped on every guest. After a one week board and train with Joyell she strolls the neighborhood daily, right beside her owner, and no longer jumps on guests.

Evie came for a one week stay. To see how our stays work and which length fits which dog, read our board and train page, or see everything we offer on our services page.
